Chair Airlines was initially founded in 2014 as a subsidiary of the German Germania airline and Swiss investors as Germania Flug. After Germania's insolvency in 2019, flight operations could be continued with the help of new investors. The company name was changed to Chair, a play on words with the country code of Switzerland (CH), and an independent brand identity was established. Initially equipped with an A319, the template for this novelty, the fleet has since been expanded by three A320s. This mainly serves holiday destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
