Founded in 1941, Philippine Airlines is the oldest commercial airline in Asia. On the one hand, the focus is on international traffic with connections to North America, Asia, Australia and Europe. However, the special situation of the archipelago with its countless islands also requires a dense network of inland routes. From 1988 onwards, eleven Fokker 50s also helped. They were able to fly to smaller islands beyond the urban centers that were inaccessible or could not be economically served by larger jet aircraft.
